I published my first book in the fall of 1969 and I’ve been connected with the publishing industry ever since. I’ve written and published almost 60 books, was general editor for a series of 42 Christian Counseling books published by Word, and have walked alongside a number of emerging authors as they have worked to get books written and published.
Like almost everybody else, however, I know that the book industry is changing. Perhaps apart from novels and maybe some specialty books, authors and readers in the future – really in the present – will need to be in dialogue. No longer does a writer put words on paper, wrap them in a fancy cover, and shoot them out like missiles for readers to receive passively in exchange for a few dollars given to a bookstore or Amazon.com. Especially with textbooks or books like Christian Coaching there needs to be a way for author and reader to be in a relationship with information going both ways.
This website is intended to be the means by which coaches, readers of the Christian Coaching book, students, counselors and anybody else can respond to my book. This also is the way you can get back to me, even though I know in advance that I will not always be able to get back o you.
At least for starters, the main way we will interact is through this blog. I plan to make postings at least two or three times weekly. And I will be reading the messages that you send back so we can have a larger group of participants that interacts around the book as a catalyst to get us moving.
